Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
These guidelines are fully consistent with the COPE Principles of Transparency and Best Practice Guidelines and the COPE Code of Conduct. More details can be found here: https://publicationethics.org
We encourage the best standards of publication ethics and take all possible measures against publication malpractices.
Plagiarism
Whether intentional or not, plagiarism is a serious violation. We defne plagiarism as a case in which a paper reproduces another work with similarity and without citation. If evidence of plagiarism is found before/after acceptance or after publication of the paper, the author will be offered a chance for rebuttal. If the arguments are not found to be satisfactory, the manuscript will be retracted and the author sanctioned from publishing papers for a period to be determined by the responsible Editor(s). The journal uses iThenticate plagiarism screening tool to screen all submissions and to verify the originality of content before publication.
Multiple, Duplicate, Redundant or Concurrent Submission/Publication
Papers describing essentially the same research should not be published in more than one journal or primary publication. Hence, authors should not submit for consideration a manuscript that has already been published in another journal. Submission of a manuscript concurrently to more than one journal is unethical publishing behaviour and unacceptable.
The publication of some kinds of articles (such as clinical guidelines, translations) in more than one journal is sometimes justifiable, provided that certain conditions are met. The authors and editors of the journals concerned must agree to the secondary publication, which must reflect the same data and interpretation of the primary document. The primary reference must be cited in the secondary publication.
Disclosure and conflict of interest
All authors must disclose in the cover letter any potential conflicts of interest, including commercial affiliations such as employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, patent licensing, or financial support that could influence the work. All sources of funding must also be clearly acknowledged.
Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality regarding the content they evaluate and must not use privileged information for personal gain. They should decline to review any manuscript in which they have a conflict of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or financial relationships with any of the authors, institutions, or companies involved.
Declaration of Authorship and Originality
The authors confirm that the submitted work is original, has not been previously published in whole or in part (except as an abstract, conference presentation, or academic thesis), and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript, and, where required, appropriate approvals have been obtained from relevant institutional or ethical bodies. If accepted, the manuscript will not be published elsewhere in the same or a substantially similar form, in any language or medium, without the journal’s prior written permission. All submissions are routinely screened for originality using plagiarism detection tools.
Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All such individuals should be listed as co-authors. Others who have contributed to specific aspects of the project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included, that no inappropriate authors are listed, and that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
Ethical Approval for Human and Animal Research
Studies involving human subjects must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and require documented approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Animal studies must adhere to ethical guidelines and be approved by a relevant Animal Ethics Committee. Informed consent must be obtained and documented for all participants.
Authorship Changes
The list and order of authors submitted with the original manuscript are considered final. Authors are expected to agree upon authorship and author sequence prior to submission. Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors must be made before acceptance of the manuscript and requires approval from the Editor.
Such requests must include:
- A detailed explanation from the corresponding author.
- Written consent from all listed authors and any individuals being added or removed.
Requests for authorship changes after acceptance are strongly discouraged and will only be considered under exceptional circumstances. If such a change is approved post-publication, a formal correction (corrigendum) will be issued. Until the authorship issue is resolved, editorial processing or publication may be put on hold.
Retraction and Correction Policy
The journal follows COPE guidelines on retractions and corrections. Articles may be retracted or corrected in cases of honest error, misconduct, or ethical violations. All changes will be documented transparently and linked to the original article.
In cases of alleged or proven scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication or plagiarism, the publisher, in close collaboration with the editors, will take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and to amend the article in question. This includes the prompt publication of an erratum, clarification or, in the most severe case, the retraction of the affected work. The publisher, together with the editors, shall take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred, and under no circumstances encourage such misconduct or knowingly allow such misconduct to take place.
Revenue Sources
Cardiovascular and Interventions is fully funded and supported by the Turkish Society of Cardiovascular Surgery (Türk Kalp Damar Cerrahisi Derneği). The journal does not charge any submission, processing, or publication fees to authors, and all content is freely accessible to readers.
Open Access Policy
The journal is freely available online. Authors are required to agree with this open access policy which enables unrestricted access and reuse of all published articles. Studies in this journal are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). Users are allowed to copy and redistribute the material in printed or electronic format and build upon the material, without further permission or fees being required, provided that appropriate credit is given.
Complaints and Appeals Policy
Complaints related to the editorial process, peer review, or ethical concerns should be submitted via email to the Editor-in-Chief. All complaints are handled promptly, confidentially, and according to COPE best practices.
Peer Review
The journal employs a double-blind review system to ensure an unbiased evaluation, keeping both author and reviewer identities confidential. Authors are obliged to participate in the peer review process and cooperate fully by responding promptly to editors’ requests for raw data, clarifications, and proof of ethics approval, patient consents and copyright permissions. In the case of a first decision of "revisions necessary", authors should respond to the reviewers’ comments systematically, point by point, and in a timely manner, revising and re-submitting their manuscript to the journal by the deadline given.
Advertising Policy
Cardiovascular and Interventions is an open-access, online-only journal. The journal may accept digital advertisements to be displayed on its website, provided that such advertising complies with ethical standards and does not compromise the scientific integrity or editorial independence of the journal.
All advertisements will be clearly distinguishable from editorial and peer-reviewed content. The presence of advertising will have no influence on editorial decisions, peer review outcomes, or the content published by the journal.
Preservation and Archiving Policy
The journal maintains its own internal digital archiving system to ensure the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published content. All articles are securely stored on the journal’s servers and backed up regularly to prevent data loss. This guarantees that the content will remain available to readers indefinitely, even in the event of technical issues or changes in the publishing platform.
Repository Policy
Authors are allowed to deposit the accepted version of their manuscripts in institutional or subject repositories of their choice. This policy supports open access and the wider dissemination of research.
